Scope
This Refund Policy applies to paid document reviews, Complete Risk Reports, case-specific analyses, digital content, digital templates and other paid services offered by Standard Integrity Institute (“SII”). The free Key Data Results are not a paid service and therefore do not involve a paid refund.
This policy should be read together with the product page, checkout page, order information, Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Disclaimer provided at the time of purchase. Where a specific product or transaction page contains more specific cancellation or refund terms that do not conflict with mandatory law, those terms should also be read as part of the transaction.
Different services may be performed in different ways, including manual case review, customised reports prepared from a user’s documents, intangible digital content or one-off online services. Refund eligibility therefore depends on the actual transaction and the stage of performance.
Core Refund Principles
As a general principle, cancellation and refund options are usually broader before substantive processing of a paid service begins. Once performance has begun, SII will consider the work already completed, whether deliverables have been supplied, the nature of the transaction, payment-platform constraints and applicable law.
SII does not treat payment alone as a sufficient reason to refuse a refund, and this policy does not purport to waive or exclude consumer rights that cannot lawfully be waived or excluded.
Where a request arises from a duplicate charge, an unauthorised transaction, SII’s inability to perform the agreed service, a material delivery error or another matter attributable to SII, we will prioritise review of a refund, correction, redelivery or other reasonable remedy.
Distance Transactions and Statutory Right of Rescission
If your transaction qualifies as a distance transaction under the Consumer Protection Act of the Republic of China (Taiwan), a statutory right to rescind may in principle apply within seven days after accepting the service. The law also recognises certain reasonable exceptions where the statutory conditions, including any required disclosure or consent, have been satisfied.
Supplies made to a consumer’s specifications, intangible digital content, and online services that are completed once provided may fall within recognised exceptions. For intangible digital content or a one-off online service, applicable law also requires, among other conditions, that the service be provided only after the consumer’s prior consent where that requirement applies.
An exception does not arise automatically merely because this policy states that an item is “non-refundable”. Whether an exception applies depends on the actual nature of the transaction, pre-purchase disclosure, user consent, the manner in which performance began and the applicable law. This policy does not limit rights available under the Civil Code, Consumer Protection Act or other mandatory law.
How to Request a Refund or Cancellation
Email official@siistandard.org from the address used for the purchase. To help us identify the transaction promptly, include the purchaser name, order number or transaction reference, payment date, the product or service you wish to cancel, the reason for the request and any relevant supporting evidence.
If the information provided is insufficient to identify the transaction, determine the stage of performance or verify a payment issue, SII may ask for additional information before completing its review.
If your request also involves an unauthorised transaction, a third-party payment dispute or a data-rights request, SII may need to perform additional verification required by the payment platform, financial institution or applicable law.
Circumstances More Likely to Qualify for a Refund or Remedy
A refund or other remedy is generally more likely where substantive processing has not begun; a duplicate charge or unauthorised transaction has occurred; SII cannot provide the purchased service; the delivery differs materially from the transaction as agreed; or applicable law expressly grants a right of cancellation or refund.
Depending on the circumstances, SII may provide a full refund, partial refund, charge correction, redelivery, revised delivery after additional documents are supplied, or another reasonable remedy that does not reduce statutory rights.
Circumstances Where Refund Availability May Be Limited
Where SII has begun substantive review, analysis or report preparation based on your case materials, or you have received all or part of a digital deliverable that cannot reasonably be recovered, refund availability may be limited. The actual outcome remains subject to the transaction terms and applicable law.
Where the service has been performed as agreed, disagreement with Document Maturity, risk indicators, SII-R references, recommended clarification directions or other analytical outcomes does not, by itself, mean that SII failed to perform the service.
Where the issue mainly arises from missing pages, unclear images, incorrect information, failure to provide requested supplementary materials or other information limitations attributable to the user, and SII has already performed substantive work, the available refund may also be affected. Any specific SII commitment or mandatory legal requirement will continue to apply.
Customised Reviews, Digital Content and Commencement of Performance
An SII Complete Risk Report may be prepared specifically from the quotation documents, project context and document version submitted by an individual user and may therefore be highly case-specific. Other SII products may include digital templates, downloadable content or one-off online services.
If SII intends to rely on a legally recognised reasonable exception to exclude a statutory seven-day right of rescission for a distance transaction, SII should provide the disclosure required for the relevant transaction type before purchase or before performance begins. Where the law requires the consumer’s prior consent before provision, SII should also obtain that consent.
If legally required disclosure, consent or other conditions have not been satisfied, SII will not treat labels such as “digital product”, “customised” or “processing started” as automatically excluding the consumer’s statutory rights.
Duplicate Charges, Unauthorised Transactions and Chargebacks
If you believe a duplicate charge or unauthorised transaction has occurred, contact SII promptly and provide the transaction record, payment notice or other information reasonably required for review. Where a duplicate charge is confirmed to have resulted from the system or payment process, SII will prioritise correction or refund.
Unauthorised transactions may require confirmation with a third-party payment processor, card issuer or payment channel. SII may provide or retain records relating to the transaction and performance of the service to the extent reasonably necessary to manage the dispute.
Nothing in this policy excludes any right you may have to dispute a transaction with your card issuer or payment platform. Where practicable, contacting SII first may help reduce duplicate handling and resolve missing information more quickly.
Partial Refunds and Other Remedies
Where a service has been partially performed but a reasonable portion remains unperformed, SII may assess a partial refund or another remedy by considering completed work, the remaining service, recoverable costs, third-party fees and applicable legal requirements.
Alternative remedies may include redelivery, correction, one revised delivery after supplementary documents are supplied, an equivalent service, or another solution agreed by both parties that does not reduce statutory rights.
A discretionary or goodwill resolution in one case does not constitute a commitment that all similar future requests will receive the same outcome.
Refund Review and Processing Time
SII will review a refund request within a reasonable period after receiving enough information to identify the transaction and assess the request. Additional documents, third-party payment confirmation, an unauthorised-transaction investigation or legal assessment may extend the review period.
Once a refund is approved, SII will process it through the available mechanism for the original payment method and third-party payment platform. The time for a refund to appear on a statement or in an account may still depend on the payment platform, bank, card issuer, currency and cross-border processing.
If the original payment method is no longer available, the third-party platform cannot return the funds through the original route, or another technical limitation applies, SII will work with you to identify an alternative method where feasible and lawful.
Policy Updates and Preservation of Statutory Rights
SII may update this Refund Policy in response to changes in services, paid products, payment processes, third-party platforms, law or operational requirements. The updated version will be published on this page and identified by the last-updated date shown here.
This policy does not affect any right under applicable law that cannot be waived, excluded in advance or otherwise limited. If any provision of this policy conflicts with a mandatory legal rule, the mandatory rule prevails to the extent of that conflict.
For transactions already concluded, the refund assessment may also take into account the product page, checkout page and related disclosures provided when the transaction was entered into, unless the law or the parties’ agreement requires otherwise.
